Project Update

Long time between updates I know, but with one semester ending, holidays and a new semester beginning; finding time has been a challenge.

The project had been moving along pretty smoothly;
posters were printed and hung,a survey was sent out among the students and received no less than 450 responses...pretty impressive participation
...and then an unexpected hurdle or two.

Seems that the containers I had hoped to use are not the property of Edison, but that of an organization that is collecting cans. Yes I know, we don't have cans in our machines on campus, but that's besides the point. It means that there are no available containers to use here on campus, I need to find a way to provide some.

I've also discovered that there is no recycling pick up here on campus, so the removal of the bottles off campus and into a recycling facility is also at question.

I'm in the process of creating an in depth survey for students to gauge enthusiasm and interest in this project and recycling in general and another aimed at Dept. heads to gauge interest in a proposal of sponsorship of particular hallways on campus; the sponsorship would involve a donation to the purchase of a receptacle for collection as well as the responsibility of removal of collections for the collections in the sponsored hallway.
